In just under three hours, this group picked up more than 3,000 pieces of garbage! This
group is very passionate about clean water on top of being great swimmers!
The findings were entered into the International Coastal Cleanup app that separates
garbage into distinct main categories such as plastic, glass, paper, and foam. The
findings go to further research and education.
We learned what an aquifer and contaminants are and were able to create an edible aquifer by adding different foods like gummy bears for fractured rock, ice cream for a permeable layer, sprite for water and different colored sprinkles on top that represented different contaminants like plastic, antifreeze and oil. These kids had a great time learning and eating their aquifer!
We passionately gave a speech to the audience of about 50 on the what we have done, what we
are working on and what our future goals are. It was a great group of like minded professionals who share the love of community, giving and ethics! Stay tuned for more.
